Tamara
Matthews,
Soprano,
is regarded as one of the finest singers of her generation, and
her voice has been described as "worthy of the angels." As First
Prize winner of the Musica Sacra Bach Vocal Competition,
she made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1994. Her devotion to sacred
music is evidenced by innumerable engagements as soloist at the
world's premiere musical venues including the Los Angeles Master
Chorale, the Accademia per La Musica Antica, the Boston Early Music
Society, and the Berkeley, Philadelphia, Bethlehem, and Ravinia
music festivals.
She
has collaborated with prominent conductors and has enjoyed triumphant
debuts as soloist with the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra, the Philadelphia
Orchestra, and the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra. Her operatic performances
in New York, Chicago, and San Francisco have garnered high praise
for her portrayals of a wide range of roles.
Ms.
Matthews has recorded for Koch International Classics, Angel/EMI,
and the Musical Heritage Society, and is featured on the Bach Choir's
1998 release of the Mass in B Minor on the Dorian label.
