David Gordon

Tenor David Gordon, widely regarded as one of the finest Bach tenors of our time, has established a distinguished international reputation among the top ranks of classical vocalists. He has been heard at such prestigious festivals as those of Stuttgart, Tokyo, Buenos Aires, Toronto, and Festival Casals, and in the U.S. at the festivals of Oregon, Carmel, and Bethlehem. Both in concert and in master classes, he appeared frequently with Robert Shaw, Helmuth Rilling, Christopher Hogwood, Simon Preston, Seiji Ozawa, and other leading conductors worldwide. In addition, he sang more than 600 performances with the Metropolitan Opera, the Hamburg Staatsoper, the Chicago Lyric Opera, the Houston Grand Opera, and the San Francisco and Washington Operas.

His diverse discography includes Bach's Magnificat with Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony, and Dreames and Imaginations and Acis and Galatea with Gerard Schwarz and the Seattle Symphony. Mr. Gordon's association with Greg Funfgeld and the Bach Choir began in 1984 when he appeared as the Evangelist in the Saint Matthew Passion. In the following years, he performed countless works with Maestro Funfgeld and the Choir, and was featured on both of the Choir's Dorian recordings of Bach cantatas, Christmas in Leipzig and Wachet Auf!
