Nomura,
Baritone, has been described by The Boston Globe as "a
face to watch -- and a voice to hear." As the 1992 Young Concert
Artists International Auditions winner and the recipient of the
Paul A. Fish Memorial Prize, Mr. Nomura made his New York recital
debut at the Tisch Center for the Arts at the 92nd Street Y and
his Washington, D.C. recital debut at the Kennedy Center under the
auspices of the Lindemann Vocal Chair of YCA. He was also the First
Place winner in the International Vocal Competition Mozarteum in
Salzburg, Austria.
Since
beginning his professional career in 1988 the baritone has given
recitals throughout North America and Europe, at the Takefu International
Festival in Japan and in Montevideo, Uruguay. Mr. Nomura is a frequent
guest at the Spoleto Festival and other recent engagements have
included a performance of Schubert Songs in his Lincoln Center "Art
of the Song" debut, a return to Boston Baroque for Mozart's The
Impresario and a United States tour with the Skampa String
Quartet performing Borodova's "Terezin Ghetto Requiem."
Summer
2001 marked a return to the Carmel Bach Festival for Bach's St.
Matthew Passion, among other works. Mr. Nomura portrayed Prince
Yamadori in the SONY film of adama Butterfly conducted
by James Conlon, a role that he repeated in concert with the Boston
Symphony Orchestra conducted by Seiji Ozawa. His discography includes
Die schöne Müllerin with pianist Kayo Iwama (Well
Tempered Productions), Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 with
Boston Baroque and The Christmas Oratorio with The Bach
Choir of Bethlehem (Dorian).
