Soprano Anne Grimm began her studies at the Sweelink
Conservatory, Amsterdam in violin and voice. After graduation
she received a scholarship from the Fonds voor de Podiumkunsten
to pursue her vocal studies in London. During that time she was
a member of the International Opera Centre Nederland, which gave
her her stage debut as Musetta in La Boheme and toured
to New York presenting concerts at Lincoln Center. She also participated
in the Steans Institute at the Ravinia Festival in Chicago.
On the concert stage, Miss Grimm has appeared frequently with
Ton Koopman and the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Choir focusing
on the works of Bach and appearing at the festivals of Salzburg
and Ambronay as well as recording several of the Cantatas for
Erato Records. She has also appeared with De Nederlandse Bachvereniging
under Jos von Veldhoven and Capella Figuralis, recording for Channel
Classics. Other collaborations include work with Wieland Kuijken,
Hermann Max, Ivor Bolton, and Roy Goodman, performing in Bach's
Christmas Oratorio with the Amsterdamse Bachsolisten
in the Concertgebouw. She also sang in performances of the Faure
Requiem with the Radio Symphony Orchestra Holland under
Gabriel Chmura and in Bach's B Minor Mass at Tanglewood,
USA under Paul Halley.
An active recitalist, Anne Grimm has performed Lieder programs
for the Goethe Institute in Amsterdam and for festivals throughout
Holland, including the Grachten Festival and Groningen Chamber
Music Festival. She has recorded songs of Dutch composer van Eijken
for NM Classics and will be participating on a disc of the works
of Constantijn Huygens.
In Opera she has performed at the Netherlands Opera in Monteverdi's
Orfeo and has sung in Handel's Rinaldo under
Christophe Rousset in France. Miss Grimm recorded Los Elementos
in Spain with Al Ayre Espanol for Harmonia Mundi; she has performed
at the Handel Festspiele - Halle and recorded Sartorio's L'Orfeo
for Vanguard Classics under Stephen Stubbs. Most recently Miss
Grimm toured throughout Europe in Handel's Samson, singing
the role of Dalila under Ton Koopman. She also performed at the
Holland Festival in Purcell's King Arthur with the Combattimento
Consort conducted by Jan Willen de Vriend as well as singing the
role of Xenia in Boris Godunov at the Concertgebouw with
Rozhdestvensky.
Highlights of the 2000-2001 season include a performance of Mozart's
Exultate Jubilate for the combined Royal Households of
Belgium and the Netherlands, Die Zauberflöte for
Reise Opera, Holland under Ton Koopman, and she will sing with
members of the Concertgebouw Orchestra and Rotterdam Philharmonic
in a program of contemporary chamber music at De Beurs in Amsterdam.
In Canada she also wil be heard in a recital program for the CBC
McGill Recital series to be broadcast on Music from Montral, in
the Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Festival Vancouver and in the
USA with the Bach Choir of Bethlehem singing in Bach's Weihnachtsoratorium.
